Technical Framework

FORTESIE goes towards the implementation of a reference architecture and pool of components which can be synthesised in various services, exchanged with other components implemented differently but most importantly expanded with the addition of new ones to serve new business services for other actors. An initial list of services and their interfaces will be offered for reuse in novel business models and services with performance guarantees. The work leverage FIWARE, IDSA, GAIA-X and OpenDEI conceptual architectures and essential building blocks for trust and sovereignty with the view to set up a reusable architecture and an open-source implementation for data-driven services for building renovation and ESIE.

The digital implementation of the architecture will enable a multi-actor operation, bridging the gaps of the isolated and stand-alone services and platforms, enhancing at the same time the role of consumers, citizens and other target groups in the overall energy value chain.

Renovation technologies:

FORTESIE contributes to advances in all the above areas, as follows:

Prefabricated façade insulation modules for residential building renovation, main façade; thermal insulation of roofs and below deck:
Ventilation system with smart heat recovery, acoustic insulation and smart lighting systems combined with smart windows:
Sewage hot water heat recovery system with micro heat exchangers; heat pumps; building integrated PV systems (BIPV): The installation of the FORTESIE technological renovation components will provide the opportunity to an increased number of ESCOs and other relevant actors to gain valuable experience in ESIE interventions. Clear indicators to even wider target groups and will also lead to more active engagement around ESIE.
Functional Architecture

Recommendation engine

AI and data-driven techniques to support the FORTESIE recommendation engine and deliver more valuable insights to the users (energy disaggregation, cross-stakeholders and cross-domain energy and non-energy analytics, etc.).

Standardised, trustworthy and securely sharable M&V ensuring data sovereignty

IPMVP methodology will be advanced to a dynamic, reactive and accurate approach. It utilises Machine Learning (ML) algorithms which aim to identify the best set of independent variables to apply to a site or a monitored appliance that is subject to energy optimisation measures and therefore automate the quantification of the savings achieved.

Social Sciences and Humanities and Holistic approach for engagement

New financing means

FORTESIE demonstrates that the introduction of a climate currency has the strength to open the era after the flat GDP period, stimulate the transition from fossil to RES and ensure the democracy as we knew it. Hence, it creates a collective narrative for climate change.

Online marketplaces, acting as European One-Stop-Shop for building renovation with ESIE ensuring the sustainability of the results, and promoting faster take-up of packages and services.

Within FORTESIE, the online marketplace, which will be acting as an online One-Stop-Shop for renovation, will accumulate all packaged services by eliminating geographic barriers due to the non-physical nature of the marketplace.

1.Gamified app user interaction and continuous motivation : This mobile application offers direct communication with the consumers visualisation of the consumption and based on it, feedback regarding their progress in achieving energy savings through an easy-to-understand visualization through regular gamified challenges, while respecting the rights and freedoms of the person involved at all times
2.Stakeholder dynamics analyse the dynamics between the different actors in the value chain of the different pilots is an essential exercise, which constitutes the opportunity to incentivise and inform at the right level.
3.Inclusive approach for the broader green deal cause: as opposed to all current punitive policies (such as carbon tax) to avoid the generation of frustration among citizens. The green-euro establishes a collective narrative and rewards actors of the Green Deal.

The One-Stop-Shops for building renovation

a. promotes the services offered in FORTESIE as packages or service components for building new packages,

b. networks consumers and building owners (target groups) with renovation and other value chain suppliers, (financing, consulting, digitisation etc.)

c. informs about best practice, benefits and opportunities to support further investments.
