On June 28, 2000, the Nalón Energy Agency Foundation (ENERNALÓN) was established, a technical and socio-economic non-profit entity with its own legal personality and autonomous assets, subject to the Protectorate of the Principality of Asturias, according to the current legislation.

Its object and purpose is the promotion of energy saving and renewable energies within the current trends of reducing CO2 emissions to prevent climate change and improve the environment.
