he Ministry of Climate and Energy of the Republic of Latvia (MCE)  is the leading state administrative institution. The core functions of the MCE involve policy making,  management and  development of three policy areas – climate, energy, and environmental protection.

The MCE was established on 1 January  2023 to better address areas of the net-zero transition and energy security. From 1 July 2024 environmental policy functions were delegated to the MCE.

The MCE is state administrative institution which is having a leading role in energy policy making and management in the sectors of electricity, natural gas, heating energy, renewable sources, and energy efficiency.
