Integrating Innovative BIPV and Heat Pump Solutions in Urban Renovations: Veolia's Technical Insights
The EU has long pursued efforts towards decarbonisation in the buildings sector to achieve relevant targets, through a constantly evolving European policy landscape. In this context, FORTESIE prioritises renovation and Efficient, Sustainable, and Inclusive Energy (ESIE) use, aiming not only to reduce emissions but also to improve quality of life and comfort for all citizens.
Cooperatives are established by citizens to serve citizens. They operate according to statutes they define, to fulfill the mission that shapes them, and the services they promote reflect the values they believe in. A cooperative is an organized entity with responsibilities, made up of people who come together to develop one or more services that benefit all its members. They are not profit-driven but seek to operate sustainably.
Building Renovation Financing in Latvia: Current State and Future Prospects
Latvia mainly uses EU funds and state budget funds for building renovation. Given the need to achieve the set energy efficiency and climate targets, it is necessary to promote private sector involvement (more active involvement of investors and commercial banks, provision of favorable loans, etc.).
Navigating Ethical and Legal Challenges in Smart Renovation Projects

In the FORTESIE project, one of the most important lessons so far has been that successful renovation is not only about technology. Energy savings and smart services matter, but so does the willingness of people to accept and use them. For this reason, we have paid particular attention to how citizens, households, and organisations experience and respond to the changes introduced in our pilots.
The FORTESIE project is at the forefront of Europe’s Renovation Wave, demonstrating how innovative renovation packages, digital technologies, and smart performance guarantees can work together to deliver efficient, sustainable, and inclusive energy use. Central to this vision are the nine pilot sites across six countries, each showcasing tailored solutions for diverse building types — from museums and public offices to residential buildings and schools.
Proud for our project to have been a participant at the Built4People partnership event hosted by Luxinnovation GIE on May 10th, 2023.
Together, we're shaping cities for a better future!
